BAYONETTA - "In For The Kill" Campaign Case Study
Bringing a new IP to market is always a challenge – bringing an all-out Japanese action title to a western market can be even trickier. In a love-it-or-hate-it genre, we needed to show frenetic, fast paced gameplay that looked incredible yet accessible, and prove that Bayonetta’s style, attitude and deadly grace took hack & slash to a whole new level of fighting fun
We created trailers that balanced outrageous, outlandish, dynamic gameplay with gorgeous, graceful slow motion. To appeal to the broadest possible audience we paired the frenetic game capture with a great version of La Roux’s “In For The Kill” – a hit commercial track remixed with a darker, more interesting edge that provided the perfect counterpoint to the stunning visuals, and pushed the title far away from any preconceptions of niche appeal and making it truly accessible and appealing for a western audience.
