“With Homefront’s debut multiplayer trailer, we wanted to convey the epic experience of Kaos Studios’ unique brand of large scale warfare, but still communicate our unique premise of an occupied USA. Maverick delivered a piece of original creative that did exactly that, and kicked off our multiplayer campaign in style.”
– Huw Beynon | Head of Global Communications for Homefront
HQ worked with Maverick to show the excitement of the multiplayer experience of their FPS, Homefront, through a trailer.
Joining forces with both Kaos Studios in NYC and THQ in LA, Maverick orchestrated a 32 person multi-player match in Homefront, showcasing the epic battle experience gamers can expect from the title.
Sequences were directed by Maverick’s Gameplay Capture Team and acted out by squads of live players controlling infantry, tanks, helicopters and drones to create a cinematic Machinima trailer that truly represents the large scale combat gameplay experience.
“It’s quite an undertaking to produce this type of trailer and it’s worth blowing our trumpet a little to say just how good Maverick are at putting this type of thing together. We’re used to working with developers (like Kaos, Crytek, Media Molecule and Reflections) and working in a variety of engines (inc. Unreal, CryEngine3) on games in early build stage. In some cases we’re generating each image, object and animation in-engine while in others we’re working very closely with the engine – manipulating it to capture footage as we did in Homefront. It’s a specialist task and we’re getting pretty good at it – it gets the trailer watching experience as close as possible to the game playing experience.”
